Common Allergies
You will never know you have allergies until you suffer its ill-effects.
Allergy is considered a “silent killer” because it can kill you if you are not careful. When triggered, a serious allergic reaction may occur after a person is exposed to an allergen. The common symptoms of dangerous allergies are the following:
- itchy skin rashes
- sneezing
- coughing
- teary eyes
- swelling of the throat, tongue, and skin
- nausea and vomiting
- shortness of breath
- giddiness
- low blood pressure
- fainting
Death by an allergic reaction
To many allergy sufferers, an allergic reaction can be life-threatening. Dangerous allergies can cause death in just a matter of minutes to an hour and it can be a painful experience.
In a sponsored document by the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, up to 5% of the population has suffered anaphylaxis and less than 1% died because of it. In a serious allergic reaction, the throat muscles swell and the airways become constricted and blocked. With a quick administration of Epinephrine, death can be avoided.
Allergens everywhere
Allergy triggers often look ordinary and innocent. A person may be allergic to one or more allergens such as:
- peanuts
- strawberries
- gluten
- cold air
- sudden climate change
- chlorine
- dust
- dust mites
- rancid odour
- strong perfume
Dust is one of the common triggers of an allergic reaction, especially in the hot and dry locality. Microscopic particles enter via the ac ducts and circulate indoors when the HVAC system is turned on.
If you are suffering from allergic rhinitis, you will immediately know you are breathing dust particles when you start sneezing. Poor indoor air quality can aggravate your symptoms.
Even dangerous allergies can be managed if not totally cured. It is important to know your triggers and avoid them as much as possible. Carry an EpiPen wherever you go. Dirty indoor air can be easily remedied by ac ducts cleaning without using harmful chemicals.
