Technology Explanation

How TPA Technology Works

The TPA 8X Pro uses a combination of advanced technologies to purify and sanitize indoor air:

  1. Plasma Field Generation
    • High-voltage charge (up to 40,000 volts) creates a cold plasma field
    • This plasma field safely ionizes airborne particles
  2. Active Sanitization Process
    • Uses magnetic attraction and cold plasma to sanitize air
    • Creates an ionic field that “zaps” harmful particles
    • Filters particles 6x smaller than similar air purifiers (down to 0.0146 microns)
    • Actively kills or inactivates viruses and bacteria on contact
  3. Particle Collection
    • Magnetizes particles through the electrical plasma field
    • All particles are collected by magnetic force on a washable metal filter with 99.99% efficiency
    • The reusable metal filter can be washed and reused, eliminating the need for replacements
  4. Air Quality Monitoring
    • When set to AUTO mode, the detachable Air Quality Laser Sensor monitors air quality
    • Adjusts fan speed automatically based on detected pollution levels
    • Reduces to an inaudible minimum once the room air is clean

Technical Performance: Understanding CFM and Coverage Area

The Critical Role of CFM in Air Purification

CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) is one of the most important technical specifications for evaluating air purifiers, directly impacting how effectively a unit can clean the air in a given space. The TPA 8X Pro excels in this critical metric with a maximum airflow of 812 CFM, far exceeding most competing products.

The higher the CFM rating, the larger the room an air purifier can effectively clean. This is because a higher airflow rate means the device can process more air volume in less time. As a general guideline, for effective air purification:

  • 100 CFM can adequately cover approximately 250 square feet
  • 200 CFM can handle around 500 square feet
  • 400 CFM can purify about 1,000 square feet

The TPA 8X Pro’s impressive 812 CFM rating explains its ability to cover spaces up to 159 m² (1,710 sq.ft), making it suitable for large open-concept areas where other purifiers would be inadequate.

Real-World Performance Impact

The TPA X8 PRO’s maximum airflow of 812 CFM allows it to completely sanitize the air in a 1,431 sq.ft room every 20 minutes, which translates to 3 complete air changes per hour. This is why it can efficiently clean a 1,000 sq.ft area in just 15 minutes.

In contrast, air purifiers with lower CFM ratings might require several hours to achieve the same level of air purification in larger spaces, making them ineffective for those applications.

The TPA X8 PRO’s exceptional CFM rating of 812 at maximum setting explains why it can effectively cover much larger areas than most standalone air purifiers on the market, which typically offer between 100-300 CFM.

TPA X8 Pro’s Airflow Advantage

The combination of the TPA X8 Pro’s high CFM rating with its advanced plasma technology creates a uniquely powerful solution:

  1. Superior Coverage: Covers areas up to 159 m² (1,710 sq.ft) effectively
  2. Rapid Purification: Completes air changes much faster than conventional units
  3. Complete Sanitization: Not just moving air but actively purifying it through plasma technology
  4. Efficient Operation: Maintaining healthy air quality with fewer air changes needed due to superior filtration technology

This explains why a single TPA X8 Pro can replace multiple conventional air purifiers while delivering superior results, particularly in larger spaces.

5.   Benefits and Unique selling points

  • Whole-Home Purification, 24/7: Unlike portable air cleaners or single-room UV devices, MicroPure actively treats the air throughout your entire home as long as your HVAC fan is running. It works around the clock (when your system fan is set to run) to hunt down pollutants at the source, providing constant air cleaning even when you’re not thinking about it.
  • Eliminates a Broad Spectrum of Contaminants: The MicroPure MX4 is effective against virtually all types of common indoor pollutants, both biological and chemical. It kills or inactivates germs (bacteria, viruses, mold spores, mildew) in the air and on surfaces, breaking the reproductive cycle of pathogens. It also neutralizes VOCs and odors – e.g. fumes from cleaning products or paint, cooking and pet odors, smoke – by oxidizing those chemical molecules rather than just masking them Even allergens like pet dander, pollen, and dust mites are reduced: while MicroPure doesn’t “filter” dust, it causes fine particles to clump together so your HVAC filter can capture more of them, and it destroys many allergy-triggering microbes and organics (like mold and bacteria that allergen particles often hitch a ride on)
  • Low Maintenance Convenience: One big selling point for homeowners is minimal upkeep. There are no messy filters to replace or clean every month – the only maintenance is changing the UV lamp every 2 years and the catalyst core every 4 years for optimal performance. In between those times, the unit largely runs on its own without An LED indicator on the unit lets you know the UV lamp is on (so you have a built-in reminder; if it’s glowing, it’s working). Compared to portable purifiers that might require filter changes every few months, MicroPure’s maintenance schedule is very infrequent. This “set it and forget it” aspect is very attractive – especially since many customers will simply have their HVAC tech swap the lamp/core during routine seasonal tune-ups. Maintenance cost is low as well (just two parts every few years). Overall, MicroPure offers whole-home coverage without the hassle of constant attention.
  • Proven Safety and Compliance: Safety was a top priority in MicroPure’s design. The unit is certified to meet UL electrical standards (ETL listed) so it can safely operate inside your HVAC system. The UV-C light is completely enclosed within the metal housing and duct, so no UV radiation escapes into living The amount of oxidizer produced is carefully controlled to be safe for continuous exposure – the trace ozone is far below regulatory limits (and quickly converted to harmless molecules). Independent tests and years of field use have shown it’s safe for people, pets, and home materials (it won’t damage your furniture or electronics – see Q&A on safety). MicroPure has undergone electrical and ozone emissions testing to comply with laws (including California’s stringent requirements). You can run it 24/7 in occupied spaces with peace of mind – it’s actually based on technology used in NASA’s closed environments, so it had to be extremely safe to begin with. (Many thousands of these units are in homes and offices, operating safely around families every day.)
  • Complements Existing HVAC & IAQ Systems: MicroPure is compatible with any forced-air HVAC system, whether it’s a conventional AC, heat pump, or packaged). It’s an add-on that doesn’t change how your system works – it only improves the air circulating through it. It also plays well with other indoor air quality measures: for instance, you can use MicroPure alongside high-MERV or HEPA filters, ERVs/HRVs (ventilation systems), humidifiers, or dedicated UV coil lights. They address different aspects (filtration, ventilation, humidity, coil sterilization), and MicroPure adds the active air purification element. Together, they form a comprehensive IAQ strategy. But even if MicroPure is the only upgrade you add, it will still significantly boost the air quality compared to a standard filter alone. If a home already has a UV lamp on the coil or a good filter, MicroPure builds on that by attacking the contaminants those don’t capture (see Q&A on coil lamps). Conversely, if MicroPure is the first IAQ device installed, it will tackle a broad range of issues by

itself. This flexibility means you don’t have to remove or change anything about your current system – just install MicroPure and enjoy the benefits.

  • Cost-Effective Whole-Area Solution: MicroPure offers a strong value when you consider it replaces the need for multiple separate devices. One MicroPure can do the job of several portable purifiers (which you’d otherwise need in various rooms) as long as it is installed on an AC unit that serves multiple It also handles odors and germ control that expensive filtration or UV systems alone might not solve. The upfront cost of the unit is often similar to buying two or three quality portable air cleaners, but those portables only cover individual rooms and require frequent filter replacements. MicroPure covers the entire area served by your AC unit and its only replacements are every couple of years. Additionally, by keeping your HVAC system’s coil and ducts cleaner (preventing mold growth, reducing dust buildup), it may help maintain your system’s efficiency and lifespan. That could save money on HVAC maintenance or energy in the long run (a clean coil transfers heat more efficiently than a dirty one, for example). Given the health and comfort improvements, many homeowners find MicroPure well worth the investment.

9.         Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How exactly does the MicroPure MX4 work to clean the air?

A: The MicroPure uses photocatalytic oxidation (PCO). Inside the device, a UV-C ultraviolet lamp shines on a metal catalytic core coated with proprietary materials. This reaction creates ionized “air scrubber” molecules—including hydrogen peroxide vapor, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide ions—that are safe for humans but destroy microorganisms and pollutants in the air and on surfaces.

Q: What contaminants can it remove or neutralize?

A: MicroPure targets a broad spectrum of indoor pollutants, including:

  • Germs (Bacteria & Viruses): It kills or inactivates airborne and surface microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and This helps reduce illness spread and eliminates the sources of musty/moldy odors. For example, it has been lab-tested on virus surrogates like MS-2 bacteriophage (a stand-in for viruses like influenza or SARS-CoV-2) with positive results in reducing viral counts. Homeowners often report fewer colds or flu bouts after

installation – while it’s not a guarantee, it definitely knocks down the number of germs floating around.

  • Mold & Mildew: By killing mold spores in the air and even on surfaces over time, it helps prevent mold growth in the HVAC system (and elsewhere). That means less mold on coils, ducts, drip pans, as well as suppression of that musty smell that active mold causes in damp areas. MicroPure’s UV and oxidizers actually destroy mold DNA and chemistry, not just mask it.
  • VOCs & Odors: Volatile Organic Compounds – these are chemical gases emitted by things like cleaning products, paints, new carpets, as well as odors from cooking, pets, smoking, etc. MicroPure breaks down VOC molecules at the molecular level via oxidation. It doesn’t mask odors with a fragrance; it neutralizes them. So smells from cigarettes, litter boxes, cooking (fish, curry, burnt food), garbage, etc., are significantly reduced. Many customers notice their house just “smells fresher” – odors don’t linger as long or are gone entirely.
  • Allergens & Dust: While MicroPure isn’t a physical filter, it reduces airborne dust, dander, pollen, and other allergens by causing these particles to clump together and either drop out of the air or get captured by your HVAC It also neutralizes certain allergenic particles (for instance, oxidizing the irritating compounds in pet dander or dust mite waste). The net effect is often less dust settling on furniture over time and relief in allergy symptoms for sensitive individuals. People with asthma or allergies often report they can breathe easier because the triggers in the air are diminished. (Of course, you’ll still want to dust and vacuum normally – MicroPure isn’t a vacuum – but it does mean less will be in the air to begin with.)

In short, MicroPure addresses all three categories of indoor air pollution: Particulates, Microbials, and Gases/Odors. Most standalone devices only focus on one (e.g. HEPA = particulates, UV lamp = microbials, carbon filter = odors).

MicroPure tackles all via its active process.

Q: Is it safe to have in my home? Does it produce any harmful ozone or byproducts?

A: Yes, it’s safe for continuous use in occupied spaces. The MicroPure’s standard catalyst does produce a very small amount of ozone as a byproduct, but this is almost immediately converted into other oxidizers inside the duct. Any ozone that makes it out into the home is “incidental and…insignificant—many times below the EPA limit.

Q: I have family members with asthma/allergies. Will this help?

A: While individual results can vary, many homeowners with allergies or asthma report significant improvements after installing active air purifiers like MicroPure. By killing mold spores and bacteria, and reducing pet dander, pollen, and dust in the air, MicroPure addresses several common triggers that can inflame asthma or allergies. It also removes lingering odors and smoke that can irritate sensitive lungs. Importantly, MicroPure’s oxidizer output is very low ozone (well within safe limits. in the standard configuration, so it doesn’t introduce an irritant (high ozone itself can aggravate asthma, but MicroPure avoids that issue). For someone with severe allergies, MicroPure can be a powerful part of a multi-faceted approach: you’d still want to use good HVAC filters in your AC system to physically trap particles and control humidity, but MicroPure adds an active neutralization capability that those

passive methods lack. It attacks microorganisms like dust mite waste, pet dander proteins, and mold spores, breaking them down so they are less allergenic. Many allergy sufferers notice they wake up less stuffy, or that their indoor environment doesn’t trigger symptoms as much, after adding MicroPure. Of course, every individual is different – and MicroPure is not a medical device – but given that similar PCO technology is even used in some hospitals and clinics, it’s certainly aimed at creating healthier air. The consensus is that it improves overall air quality, which usually benefits allergy/asthma conditions. (Just ensure to keep up with the minimal maintenance so the unit is performing at full capacity for best results.)

Q: How do I know what size MicroPure to get for my home?

A: The size corresponds to your HVAC system’s capacity:

  • For systems around 2 to 5 tons or 24 to 30000 BTU cooling capacity, the 6″

MicroPure is recommended

  • For systems about 3 to 5 tons, the 7’ or 12″ MicroPure is ideal
  • For larger systems over 5 tons, go with the 14″ unit

If you have multiple HVAC systems, you would generally install one unit per systemIf you have multiple pets, smokers, or strong odor issues, consider going one size up if your system is borderline.

Q: How often do the filters need to be replaced?

A: The MicroPure doesn’t have traditional filters. The UV lamp needs replacement every 2 years, and the catalyst core every 4 years. These are quick procedures that take less than 5 minutes for a technician or handy homeowner.

Q: Where in my HVAC system does it go?

A: The ideal location is in the supply plenum, just downstream of the HVAC evaporator coil . In a typical setup, this means on the supply air duct coming out of your furnace or air handler, right after the cooling coil (A-coil). This placement ensures that the maximum concentration of oxidizers goes out into your ductwork and rooms. Can it be installed on the return side? It can, and it will still work to some degree, but note: if placed in the return, some of the “purifiers” it generates might get filtered out or broken down by the blower fan and coil before reaching your rooms. The manufacturer says you lose some efficiency that way. So supply side is preferred so that nothing interferes with the plasma before it enters your living space.

Q: Does it make any noise or have any noticeable effect (like smell or light) in the house?

A: The MicroPure MX4 is completely silent in operation. It has no fan or motor of its own; it relies on your HVAC’s blower to move air. essentially noiseless from the occupant’s perspective. It does produce a light internally (the UV lamp’s glow), but thanks to the sealed design you won’t see light spilling into your house. You typically wouldn’t see any light in the rooms.

As for smell: Most people do not perceive any smell from the MicroPure during normal operation. Some individuals with very sensitive noses might notice a faint, clean, “after a thunderstorm” smell – this is the scent of ionized air or a trace of ozone, similar to what you might smell near a copier or after a lightning storm.

MicroPure’s normal ozone output is extremely low, so typically this is not strong or bothersome, if noticeable at all. In fact, the predominant effect on smell is positive: it removes existing odors, leaving a more neutral scent. So your home is more likely to smell like “nothing” (or just generally fresh) rather than having lingering pet or cooking odors. If a slight plasma smell is noted initially, it usually means the system is actively cleaning something (for example, when first installed, it might be oxidizing some built-up organics in the ducts or carpet outgassing, which can produce a temporary smell). That typically goes away after running for a short while. Most customers either smell nothing or describe the air as just smelling cleaner.

Q: How does this compare cost-wise and benefit-wise to just getting a better filter or a standalone HEPA unit?

A: Upgrading your HVAC filter to a high-efficiency filter (like MERV 13–16, or a whole-house HEPA retrofit) and using portable HEPA purifiers are two common strategies for air quality. Each has pros and cons relative to MicroPure:

  • HVAC Filter Upgrade: A high-MERV or HEPA filter in the HVAC can indeed trap smaller particles than standard However, it doesn’t actively kill germs or remove odors/VOCs – it only captures particulates. Also, very high-efficiency filters can impede airflow if your system isn’t designed for them, potentially straining your blower or causing rooms to get less air. Sometimes upgrades to filtration require modifying the ductwork or blower to handle the resistance. In contrast, MicroPure doesn’t restrict airflow at all (it’s not a filter) and it neutralizes pollutants that filters can’t (germs, smells). You still use a normal filter for dust with MicroPure, but you don’t have to go ultra-high MERV – MicroPure helps even a modest filter work better by clumping particles. So, MicroPure addresses the gaps left by filtration (microbes and gases), and actually complements filtration for particles.
  • Portable HEPA Units: A portable HEPA purifier in a room can capture a lot of particulates and some microbes from that room’s air, but it won’t affect other rooms. And it does little for surfaces or volatile compounds. If you wanted whole-house coverage with HEPA portables, you’d need multiple units (often one per major area), which becomes costly and noisy and takes up space. MicroPure, on the other hand, actively purifies all rooms that are seerviced by the same AC unit. It creates a blanket of cleaning throughout all these areas. Also, HEPA units mainly recirculate air in one room – they don’t proactively send anything out. MicroPure’s advantage is that it’s proactive and whole-home.

Cost-wise: Adding MicroPure is often comparable in cost to buying 2 or 3 decent portable purifiers. MicroPure is a one-time add-on that gives you capabilities similar to combining multiple strategies (some filtration aid, plus UV disinfection, plus odor control).

Benefit-wise: MicroPure handles odors and in-duct air sanitizing which filters alone cannot. It will actually reduce microbial load on surfaces (something a filter or portable in the corner of the room won’t do). You do still want a decent HVAC

filter in place to capture the larger dust and the clumped particles MicroPure generates – it’s not an either/or. The ideal setup is both: a good filter + MicroPure, so you have passive and active purification working together
